Project Orion 2019
Since last year’s Project Strive, NTU Tamil Literary society, NUS Tamil Literary Society, NUS Indian Cultural Society and Tamizha sees great importance in the 4 organisations coming together and bonding through various activities. In line with that, this year, we had Project Orion where the students came together to engage in an exciting Indian Heritage Trail. That morning, we came together as early as 10am and gathered at the Indian Heritage Centre. Then the students from each organisation were split into different teams were they got to work together and make new friends.
We first had a couple of group activities followed by an amazing race with an exciting lineup of activities. These include, flower tying, rangoli drawing, carrying the karagam on head and walking, Saree tying, Veshti tying and etc. Furthermore, to challenge our students, we also had a couple of activities which tested their knowledge on Indian heritage through a quiz on Indian history in Singapore. Moreover, we had a game were students had to find out some Indian herbs through smelling and even a game that involved them rearranging a set of instructions to figure out the recipe for some Indian dishes.
All the teams participated in these games with great enthusiasm. Teams which performed best were given prizes too. All the students felt that this was a great opportunity for them to bond and get to know more about their own culture.
ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் NTU தமிழ் இலக்கிய மன்றம், NUS தமிழர் பேரவை, NUS இந்திய கலாச்சார மன்றம் மற்றும் தமிழா ஆகிய நான்கு மன்றங்களும் ஒன்றுகூடி எங்கள் நட்புறவை வளர்த்துக்கொள்வது ஒரு வழக்கமாக இருந்து வருகிறது. அந்த வரிசையில்தான் இந்த வருடம் ORION திட்டம் நடைப்பெற்றது. நாம் அனைவரும் ஒன்றுகூடி, இந்திய கலாச்சாரத்தையும் வரலாற்றையும் புரிந்துகொள்ள இது ஒரு நல்ல வாய்ப்பாக அமைந்தது.
இந்த திட்டத்தின்படி நாங்கள் சுமார் 10 மணி அளவில் இந்திய மரபுடைமை மையத்தில் கூடினோம். அனைத்து மன்றங்களை சேர்ந்த மாணவர்களும் வெவ்வேறு குழுக்களாக பிரிந்து எங்கள் பயணத்தை தொடர்ந்தோம். வழியில் நாங்கள் பங்கேற்று பயன்பெற பல சுவாரஸ்யமான நடவடிக்கைகள் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டு இருந்தன. குறிப்பாக, பூக்கள் கட்டுவது, கோலம் போடுவது, கரகம் ஏந்தி நடனம் ஆடுவது, வேஷ்டி மற்றும் கட்டுவது போன்ற நடவடிக்கைகள் இருந்தன. மேலும், எங்கள் இந்திய கலாச்சார அறிவை சோதிக்கும் வகையில், முகர்ந்து பார்த்து மூலிகைகளை கண்டுபிடிப்பது, உணவு செய்முறையை வரிசைப்படுத்துவது, வரலாறு பற்றிய ஒரு சிறிய தேர்வை செய்வது போன்ற நடவடிக்கைகளும் இருந்தன.
அனைத்து குழுக்களும் இவற்றில் மிகுந்த ஆர்வத்தோடு கலந்துகொண்டனர். புரியாத இடங்களில் கேள்விகள் கேட்டு தங்கள் கலாச்சாரத்தை பற்றிய அறிவை வெகுவாக வளர்த்துக்கொண்டார்கள் மாணவர்கள். இதில் தலைசிறந்து விளங்கிய குழுவுக்கு பிரம்மாண்டமான பரிசும் வழங்கப்பட்டது. அனைத்து மாணவர்களும் மற்ற மன்றங்களை சேர்ந்த மாணவர்களை புரிந்துகொண்ட நட்புறவை வளர்த்துக்கொள்ள இந்த நிகழ்வு ஒரு சிறந்த வாய்ப்பாக அமைந்தது.
