Pongattum Anandham 2019
Pongattum Aanantham is one of the newest initiatives by NTU TLS together with NTU TLS Alumni Association! It was a combination of a community service initiative and a spectacular cultural show to celebrate the harvest festival, Pongal!
On the day of the celebration, we began the morning with the community service initiative where our NTU TLS and NTU TLS AA members went down to the Indian Heritage Centre to teach 25 underprivileged children about the significance of Pongal. This was taught through an array of games and activities for the children which includes pottery colouring, kolam drawing, storytelling etc. This was truly an enlightening experience to many of the children as most were not aware of such significance of this festival which reminds us to appreciate the sun, farmers and everyone who contributed to us having food on our plate.
In the evening, we had a cultural show where students from NTU, NUS and SMU came together to put up dance, drama and band performances. This cultural show was put together by our NTU TLS and NTU TLS AA and it was truly an enjoyable show for everyone. Something that was particularly of special significance was the segment where the presidents from the 3 different University's tamil organisations and NTU TLS AA's president all came together to make pongal on stage. Thereafter, the show continued with a line up of band and dance performances.
Furthermore, we also had a very funny parody debate on the importance of GPA vs skills and experience. Moreover, we even had a simple drama performance where dubsmash, a common trend among teenagers now was used to convey an interesting story. With all of these, the cultural show was truly a treat to our senses and the initiative was very well received by everyone.
NTU தமிழ் இலக்கிய மன்றத்தின் இவ்வாண்டின் புதிய முயற்சிகளுள் ஒன்றான பொங்கட்டும் ஆனந்தம் நிகழ்ச்சி ஒரு சமூக சேவை நிகழ்வுடன் நடத்தப்பட்டது. கொண்டாட்ட நாளின் காலையன்று, சமுதாயத்தில் பின் தங்கிய 25 குழந்தைகளை இந்திய மரபுடைமை மையத்திற்கு அழைத்து, தொண்டூழியர்களான நம் மாணவர்கள் பொங்கல் திருநாளின் முக்கியத்துவத்தினை அவர்களுக்கு கற்றுக்கொடுத்தனர். மேலும், பண்டைய காலத்தில் தமிழ் மக்களின் வாழ்வியலை தெரிவிப்பதற்காக இந்திய மரபுடைமை மையத்தைச் சுற்றி பயணித்து, குழந்தைகள் தங்களுக்கு தெரியாத பல சுவாரஸ்யமான விஷயங்களை கற்றுக்கொண்டனர். பானை அலங்காரம், கதை சொல்வது, கோலம் வரைதல் போன்ற செயல்களுடன் உழவர் திருநாளைப் பற்றி அவர்களுக்கு தெரிவிக்கும்வகையில் இந்த பகுதி நிறைவிற்கு வந்தது.
நன்யாங் தொழில்நுட்பப் பல்கலைக்கழகம் (NTU), சிங்கப்பூர் தேசிய பல்கலைக்கழகம் (NUS) மற்றும் சிங்கப்பூர் நிர்வாக பல்கலைக்கழகம் (SMU) ஆகிய மூன்று பல்கலைக்கழகங்களும் பங்கேற்க, NTU தமிழ் இலக்கிய மன்றமும், NTU தமிழ் இலக்கிய மன்றத்தின் முன்னாள் மாணவர் சங்கமும் இணைந்து "பொங்கட்டும் ஆனந்தம்" கொண்டாட்டத்தின் கலை நிகழ்ச்சியை பிரமாண்டமாய் வழங்கினர்.
மூன்று பல்கலைகழகத்தின் தலைவர்களின் கும்மி பாடலுடன், ஆரவாரமாக தொடங்கியது கலை நிகழ்ச்சி. காதுகளுக்கு தேனாய் பாய்ந்த மெல்லிசை கானங்களிலிருந்து, பச்சை பசேலென்ற தமிழ் கிராமங்களை நினைவூட்டும் கிராமிய பாடல்கள் வரை அனைவருக்கும் இசை விருந்தளித்தனர் நம் மூன்று பல்கலைகழகத்தையும் சேர்ந்த மாணவர்கள். அது மட்டுமல்லாமல், அரங்கையே அதிர வைக்கும் பிரமிப்பூட்டும் நடன விருந்தையும் படைத்து அசத்தினர்.
பின்பு, செல்வி சந்தியாவின் தலைமையில் நம் சிந்தனையை தூண்டும் பட்டிமன்ற விவாதம், "வாழ்க்கைக்கு அவசியம் மதிப்பெண்களா, அல்லது அனுபவமா" என்ற தலைப்பில் நடைபெற்றது. அதுமட்டுமல்லாமல், தற்போது பிரபலமாகியிருக்கும் டப்ஸ்மாஷ்'ஷை (Dubsmash) கருவாகக் கொண்டு புதுமையான நாடகமும் அரங்கேறியது. நிகழ்ச்சியின் இறுதியில் துள்ளலான நடனத்துடனும் நாவிற்கினிய அறுசுவை உணவோடும் "பொங்கட்டும் ஆனந்தம்" இனிதே நிறைவடைந்தது.
